Trekking Amongst Giants

Trekking Amongst Giants

Leave it up to me to take the long way to a great experience. Throughout my childhood I would see redwood trees on TV and think, “man it would be pretty cool to see those in person.” Now that I’m grown, I could simply hop on a plane and travel about 5 hours to California and fulfill my fascination with these huge natural marvels. But nope, I went ALL the way to New Zealand, literally on the other side and the bottom of the world to lean up against one of these giants. (Don’t tell New Zealanders they are on the bottom…travel tip)

It is unbelievable how tall and massive these trees are. They will make you pause and realize that there are some things in the world that can make you feel a little insecure by just existing. I mean, something that lives 1200 – 1800 years or more, you can’t compare to that. It can stand as high as a 35 story skyscrapper and moves hundreds of gallons of water daily though its trunks staying hydrated, just crazy.

If you get a chance, I would highly recommend visiting a redwood forest and experiencing the sheer size and beauty of these trees and the history they contain. I would not recommend going at night b/c they start looking the same and you can get lost lol.
